Comments to Smokin’ Joe: Mr. Frazier, when I was a kid I remember listening to the Thrilla in Manila on the radio in my bedroom. I was in the 5th grade and you were one of my hero’s. I was amazed with you and your talent. You influenced my life Smokin Joe. I want you to know that you are in my prayers and that you are loved and respected. Please get well soon. Sincerely, Dave

You are one of the really few sports people who made America proud. The sports people now are only in it for the money and they show it. They flash their bad behavior in the fans faces and think they are above regular people. They get arrested for the stupid things and instead of showing any shame brag about it. They have no self worth.
The worst thing is they have kids following them. At least in your time (and mine) we had values. I always felt bad that I never had kids but in this world I am glad I don’t. I wish people would wise up. My best to you.

No better era for boxing than Frazier/Ali years. No better stalker than Smokin’ Joe Frazier. Always moving forward-cutting off the ring, looking to unload the left hook.
Keep fighting Champ! Boston

I am terribly sorry to hear of your illness. I was a young teenager during your glory years, and you were my hero. You were tougher than anything I could imagine, and you had true class, which you have never lost. In 1976 our family visited the”Freedom Train”, which toured the country displaying historical American artifacts, going right back to the Revolutionary war. The one thing I remember seeing there was your boxing gloves and robe. You were The Man. Get well soon, andGod Bless.

Mr. Frazier
When people speak of greatness thousands of names come mind. But when the dust has settle and the smoke clear, you are right up there at the top of the list. Watching you fight Ali on ESPN classic is just that a classic. The left hand punch devasting, you didn’t back from a fight and I don’t expect you to back down from this fight. The greatest fight of them all, may you battle this fight like you have battle your whole life. Peace man.
Keep fighting Champ and we will all pray for you!
Boxing has never been the same for me since those days when I followed your rivalry with Ali. God bless you Joe. Prayers for your well being.
Joe: Your a respected gentleman for how you handled yourself outside the ring and an American Icon for the spirit, will and drive that propelled inside the ring. In the same spirit you’ve shown us all, we pray for you and wish you well.
One of true great athletes of this, or any time. A class act, always great to watch him in and out of the ring. His time was truly the great, golden era of boxing. Love ‘ya Joe!!
RB – Indiana
In any persons lifetime, we all hope to be witness to something great…something of history. Sometimes they will only truly happen once. The era that spawned Frazier, Ali, Liston, Forman, Holmes will for me always be that Golden Era. We went to the moon, we fought amongst ourselves…but we could all sit down and marvel at the two pugalist…staging the spectacle and bringing us to our feet. The Peace of God be with you Joe….keep punching.
Thank you for everything, Joe. You will be missed immensely.
My husband loves boxing. He has your picture hanging in his office. I asked him of all the boxing pictures that there are why does he have that picture of you. His response was because this is the man that beat the greatest!
Keep fighting and get well…
Joe, you were one of the best of all time. Heart of a lion. It makes me very sad to learn of your new battle. I wish you all the best. My thoughts prayers will be with you Champ.

Pull through Joe. We are rooting for you.
May God bless you and spare you from suffering. Trust that God is at your side and this is just a step in a journey. Dan.
good luck joe are prayers are with you john hickman
Champ!
As you enter the Ring and it’s the 12th round, suddenly your corner reminds you that is a 15 round fight. Tired yet you work steady forward, as you give it all you have. A jarring right , then that incredible left hook. The crowd chants.. “Win Champ Win” God Bless you and we all pray that you will fight this to the end and Win.
In the history of professional sports, you are one of the great gentleman. Your fights and your private life always spoke of dignity, grace and determination. You are a role model, not only for young men and women of color, but of all people looking to live a great life, full of purpose. Your mark on the world will live beyond this lifetime.
Joe, thanks for being a true champion of life and a positive role model for all of us. A real hero faces every day with strength and grace; thank you for showing us we can do it too. May the Holy Spirit calm your soul and be with you and your family and friends.
God bless the Champ.
Thoughts and prayers are with you champ. I was born after your career ended but i’ve been a huge fan of yours for many years, what you did in the ring inspired me to never give up and face life’s challenges head on. Hoping and praying that God will bring you through this.
We were lucky enough to meet ‘The Champ’ this past summer while he was up at Saratoga, and my kids loved it. Nicest guy you’ll ever meet. We were all very sad to hear about what is going on, but if somebody can get off the mat to fight again it’s ‘Smokin Joe’. God Bless You
Can’t say I was your biggest fan as I was always an Ali supporter but man you were always honest as to who you were and what you stood for. I did not like hearing the news, I thought your were indestructable. I will feel a great deal of sadness in your passing and the space you leave will not be filled again. You, Ali, Forman were all at the top and you will be missed. You made a difference!
Frazier/Ali was the greatest era of boxing. Best wishes and peace to you, Joe!
In my youth, I marveled at your natural athletic ability, peerless talent in the ring, uncanny determination, and superb work ethic. But most of all, I admired your courage and dignity, and continue to do so in my middle age. You have always been one of my heroes. I too am a native of South Carolina and a cancer survivor. Today I join your fellow South Carolinians and your fans everywhere in devout prayer for you and your family, and expressions of heart-felt thanks and appreciation for your extraordinary career and the good works you’ve selflessly performed all of your life. Godspeed.
Don’t give up this fight!!! praying 4 u…..

During a time of great social unrest, when people of color in the US were treated as less than Human I remember millions of Americans gathered around their radios cheering on the American Joe Frazier to beat the Russians and eventually take the gold. A man who fought for his country’s honor even as it’s citizens fought less honorably about giving the rights that were his by nature. That is the legacy I take away from a phenomenal career. Joe Frazier – Great American.
Sending well wishes and my prayers. A true gentleman of the sport. May God bless you, Mr. Smoking Joe Frazier.
Love and prayers to you. God Bless.
I was saddened to hear of your illness. You always exemplified excellence and courage in your endeavors. You are an example to younger generations of what it means to dedicate oneself to their pursuits. May God bless you and your family.
Joe you were great, the best. Those fights with Ali were amazing, my prayers go out ot you.
Joe Frazier will be remembered as one of the greatest heavyweights of all time. He was also very appreciative and accommodating to his fans. I can think of no modern day heavyweight that displays the same degree of passion and dedication to his sport than Joe. God bless Joe Frazier!

You are a true American….
Sending love and prayers your way. We hung out back in the day when you had a gig in Scranton PA with the Knockouts. I always told people what a down to earth, great guy you are. You invited me and some friends to a party in DC, it was a crazy night, and you drove me home in time to get a shower and go to work! Those were the days! FIght this fight like you have all the rest of your battles. Think of you often with much love and respect.
Dear Joe
You are one of the greatest who ever fought. I was not fortunate enough to see you box live. But I was fortunate enough to meet you in person. You were doing a gig in RI with your band and I caught up to you comming off stage. Never a more friendly and gracious man have I ever met.

Thank you, Smokin’ Joe, for making this world a better place through your boxing. I watched you plenty of times when I was a kid, and you always showed what a great man is, win or lose. It’s something that is lost on many professional athletes today. Thank you for everything, Smokin’ Joe!
Smokin Joe,
My best childhood memory of my late father was watching your matches together. They are ingrained on my mind including where I was and what I was eating. You are the CHAMP! Keep fighting!
Thanks for all of the great memories. I used to watch your fights with my parents when I was a child. I would get so scared because my mother would scream and yell at the top of her lungs because of the bouts you had with Ali. May God Bless you!
Thanks Joe. You are an uncommon athlete who leaves nothing on the table. They don’t make them like you any more. I remember your ’71 fight with Ali when I was in the 3rd grade! It was the talk of the school Thanks again Joe – I won’t forget you – so get better!
I can only hope that you can fight and beat this like you fought in the ring…with courage, dignity and fierce determination.

As a teenager working at thrift drug on Broad &Oxford I often saw Joe Frazer come into the store to purchase things and talk to us. He always had a smile on his face and gave us autograph pictures of himself. You are in my prayers and thank you Smokin Joe for just talking with me and making my day. You will beat this! Just wanted to wish you all the best and as usual I am one of the millions of fans around the world that are always in your corner. You are never alone.
Hang tough Joe you are the best. God bless you

My mother and father, both born in the early 30′s, talked about you often when I was growing up. They told me about your fights, especially with Ali, and the FIGHT inside of you. “Frazier does not give up!’ is what my mother would say. They applied that mantra to how they raised me. “No matter what you have to do, no matter what you need to do, no matter what you’re in the middle of doing don’t give up.” – Those words from them, inspired by you, ring in my life to this day. Thank you.
God bless you.
God Speed Champ! Keep up the good fight. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Dear Joe,
Please know you inspired boys and girls who grew up in the tough neighborhoods. You were our hero.
God Bless,

Keep fighting Joe!!! I’m praying for you…
Joe you were my hero growing up. Watched all of your fights with my dad. Thanks for being a good man and a true legend. Best wishes. YOU are the GREATEST!

Hey Champ! God Bless You and Your Family at this time. Your Indomitable will in the ring is something I’m gonna use my life in the pursuit of its purpose and passions. Thank You!
I was tucked away at a boarding school when you first fought Ali. Someone had sneaked a radio into the dining hall and within a few minutes everyone was listening to that radio! I was glued to those fights, not because I know much about the sport but because of your intensity and the intensity of that competition. It taught me a great deal about what it takes to be a competitor with class and respect for others. Thanks Joe. I am praying for you.
Thinking about you and praying for you Mr. Frazier.
I cherish you, Ali, Foreman and the rest because your generations was the best. It was not all just about money for you guys; honor, respect and pride also. Even in loss, You always came thru with your head up like a Champ should. I know with God’s help you will come out victorious again and your chin up like you always have. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for the memories Joe. I will always remember.

I was just 14 when u beat Ali in the greatest fight of all time in 1971.My dad and me where over the moon when u won and silenced the so called greatest. Unfortunately my father passed just 3 weeks after that fight but I have always followed your career ever since as he would have done and you have always had a place in my heart reminding me of listening and watching boxing with my dad. To me u are the “Greatest” keep on fighting god bless with all my love
When I was about eight years old living in the Republic of Panama, one of the few things I had in common with my father was the love for You (Mr. Frazier) and Muhammad Ali. I remember the country split between you and Ali. I – myself – have always thought you were the best, because you made the one that is today known as the best. I just hope you can win this fight Sir. However, no matter what happens; I want you to know that you have helped shaped the lives of millions of black men in the world (not just here in the US). You were one of my Superheroes
, when there were no superheroes for us to look up to. Take care! And Good Luck “Smokin Joe”…
I met you briefly when you came to Seattle for a boxing exhibition back in the 1970′s. When I think of you I think of Reggie Jackson’s comment about you being a champ forever. You won the big one and will always be a champ forever in my eyes. Hope something breaks your way!
You are one the most gifted athletes of all time – and you did it with class! I’m praying for you and your family.
Watching heavyweight boxing with my Dad and brother on our only TV “back in the day” was the best! I was a little girl in the 70′s but I remember the thrills and chills when a fight was on TV with my Dad “coaching from the couch”. You’re one of the reasons that boxing is still my favorite and most exciting sport to watch May God and your family be at your side every round of this fight. God bless and praying for you, Joe. TJ in Mass.
Mr. Frazier, I was born in 72 the only Black family in White suburbia, (Renton, Washington-near Seattle). There were not a lot of things that I was learning that my father and I could share or relate to but my father and I share one thing in particular and it a true love of boxing. I remember watching your fights with my dad. Its boxers such as yourself, Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, George Forman…I could go on forever, that gave me such pride and respect for the sport and my people at the same time. To this day, boxing and gymnastics are the only sports I enjoy. You are in a rank of boxers that out finesse any of the new school boxers. There is so much lost technique and poise and I will forever appreciate you and your You are a part of my most fondest memories and I appreciate you for that. I could go on forever. I pray the Lord blesses your speedy recovery if it be His will. Claim your healing for its your right as His child. I love you, my brother, from afar.
Thanx for all the years of great boxing memories. God bless you and your family.
A GIANT among big men!!
You are the most fearless warrior i have ever seen. Keep fighting Joe, the bell hasnt rung yet for you.

peace be the journey, joe…you are one of the greats…
Everyone from my generation knows about Joe Frazier and his famous boxing legacy. My husband is a former boxer and we were both deeply saddened to learn of Mr. Frazier’s illness. We can all be comforted that Joe’s legacy will live on for future generations. Keep fighting, Joe.
Kick some butt Smokin Joe!! It ain’t over ’til He says it’s over!
Mr. Frazier….Smokin’ Joe…..I send you my thanks, my love, my respect and my best wishes during these very important days in your life. I am not a great boxing fan and can’t say that I’ve followed your career. And yet I remember, with great vividness being 16 years old and listening to the Manilla fight over the radio. I was rapt with attention and I remember rooting (even praying) for you to win the night. It was an amazing fight.
I don’t know what your life has brought in the way of successes, failures…love and loss, but I can imagine that like me, you were able to reach into the experiences of many thousands of people, whether you knew it or not. And to touch a life in any positive way is the most we can every hope to do.
In Love,
Tamra

Hi Joe, It’s “BB” from Newark NJ encouraging you to keep the faith. We will both be holding on to HIS unchanging hand to put this thing in remission. It’s good to know the LORD and what he can do. HE’s a healer and a way maker. HE’s healed others out of this same situation and HE can do it for you. So don’t get weiry get stronger HE’s moving and I’m a witness that when the praises go up the blessing comes down. I remember you repeating the song “You give good love” by Witney Houston over and over again. Well GOD gives good love too! It’s the best love that any man can ask for and HE’s delivering you!. I pray. I pray it goes away. Amen.

Hi, JOE! I’m, praying you recover & continue to keep “Smokin” for a long, long time. I believe in Miracles & that Jesus can heal you! You were my favorite fighter, I met you 3 times, most recently at the Sports Memorabilia Convention in Rosem, ont, IL. & you & your son Marvis posed for photos with me & my big “Devil Ant”(prop from my movie on dvd, “The Devil Ant”)! You inspired me to learn boxing & build my body when you decked Ali(Clay) in your “Fight of The Century” March 8th, 1971. I was a skinny, 70-lb. kid then but started weight training 3 times a week & jogging to build my muscles & endurance + hitting punching bag to condition myself. I then entered Chicago “Golden Gloves” at age 19 in ’76, fought in The Marines for “SUBIC Bay Boxing Team” in Philippines from ’77-78 & after Bible college, came back to boxing at age 29, had 23 more bouts up ’till age 34 in ’91 Chicago “Golden Gloves”, my last bout. Now I make Fun “Monster” movies on dvd. Here’s a preview of one of my fun “monster” movies when I was live, on a recent tv show. Enjoy & get well. God bless & hi to your family, Marvis, Hector, nephew Mark & all(I met them at your “Joe Frazier’s Gym” in N. Phila. my 1st of 3 times meeting you on June 15th, 1985). Your friend & fan, David ROCK Nelson(on Facebook & Youtube). Here’s that recent tv show with preview of my movie: http://youtu.be/iQXtdwEJQsA
Joe,
I grew up a fan of yours, As time went on I became even a bigger fan of the way you lived your life. All Class, athletes of today should look at you and see this is how you do it. Best wishes to you Smokin Joe, you are truly a great person.
Pete M.
Hey Joe.When I started boxing I would watch your videos and try and copy your moves. I thought you were the best. Before my first amateur fight, I bumped into Chuck Wepner in the lobby. I asked him about you and told him how much I idolized you and he said you were incredibly tough and such a nice, decent man. That same hour, at an auction being held,I saw a picture of you throwing that hook at Ali with him falling onto the ropes. It lit a fire in me. I knocked my opponent down twice in the first round with my left hook. After the fight Wepner congratulated me and told me I had a hook just like yours. Maybe he was just buttering me up but man did it work!
I even thought it was funny how my coach always got on me on never throwing my right hand.. I fell in love with my left haha. I knew you barely threw that right, too. Anyway, when i watched documentaries about you and read any articles about you I felt some sort of connection to you. I dont know why since obviously we’ve never met. I love hearing you described as an underdog because it makes underdogs like myself feel like we can get on your level.
Not too long ago I met you at a DVD signing at Barnes and noble in Manhatten. I remember thinking to myself ” he’s not gonna give a damn about me. He’s just gonna think im another person just asking for his autograph”. When I told you about how I watched your fights to teach me you gave me a big hug and invited me to your gym for sparring. It made my day and I went back to the gym and bragged endlessly about i as if we went to dinner or something (haha).
I had heard of you attending some Golden Gloves shows in New York and would dream that after my surgery, I would fight at a venue where you would be and after i won you’d congratulate me. I pray that i get that opportunity, but that’s also quite selfish. Really what I hope is that you beat this thing and that you are happy surrounded by friends and family. when I get better and have my next fight, i will be fighting with you in mind, as I always have..wondering ” would Joe Frazier like my left hook?” Again, I may not know you personally but man do you mean a lot to me and on some unexplained level, I got a lot of love for you. I am praying for you and thinking of you constantly. thank you for everything.
joe,
get well soon, we love you. your the best.

I remember this fight in 1971 as a 20-year old in South Vietnam. For a brief time we were watching two of the greatest American athletes, which took us home. I still remember watching that fight while I was in Vietnam. I believe god has a plan for you and may he bless you and comfort you family. By the way, I was pulling for you.

He was a great champion and for all I could see, a kind, good, sincere gentleman. I bet most of my rent money on him in the first Ali fight. I was crazy to do it but I believed he would do it and he did. He was a great champion, the kind the fight game doesn’t have anymore. Rest in peace, Smokin’ Joe.
My respect to the son and daughter of the deceased. Me sympathies for the family.
What a loss this is to us all. I remember Smokin’ Joe and will never forget his legacy.
Smokin’ Joe was the man!
Al
One night, a night that I’ll always remember, a well known boxer known for his gift for gab and considered to be the greatest, stepped in the ring at Madison Square Garden to do battle with a guy named Smokin Joe Frazier. In the end, The Greatest got his jaw broken. Smokin Joe looked like everything BUT his jaw was broken. But Smokin Joe was now the king of the boxing world. He was a quiet man with a very good singing voice and a lot of class. Thank you for making this world a better place. Rest in piece friend.

ur d Man …. Joe …. n u gave boxin a new meanin !!!
Aw man…Joe, we’re all going to miss you. Thanks for all the thrilling entertainment. Godspeed buddy. Godspeed.
When I was a kid, 17, senior in high school 1971, you fought Ali. I ran the two miles to the fairgrounds (for I could do that then) and when I got there waited for security to go into the pavilion for the fight.
I climbed over the 12-foot fence (for I could do that then) and get there in time for you to hit Ali with the greatest left hook of all time.
I wanted Ali to win. He represented everything I believed in. But over time, I grew to appreciate you, Joe Frazier. The great blue collar, non-political boxer who ever lived.
Thanks,
Mike
Easily one of the greatest boxers of all time, “Smoking” Joe Frazier epitomized the blue collared family man who bootstrapped his way out of hardship and poverty, and then reached back to help others do the same.
Joe seemed a dogged if humble workhorse of a man, but what always stood out for me was his effortless laugh. Even while modestly parrying Muhammad Ali’s relentless taunts and insults, Joe always wore a contented grin that seemed to quietly mock the theatrics and gamesmanship at hand — reminding us all that there’s always room for fun and playfulness, no matter how daunting the task, no matter how injurious the consequences.
You’ll be missed Joe. Rest in peace.
I met Mr Fraizer “smokin Joe” when I was a poor kid in Chester going to grade school. He caught me playing hookie from school and fishing for eel at a creek beside his car lot, we were poorer than dirt and I was hungry. Told me I had to do the right things in lfe, and that you do not need to be rich to be a good man. He told me to study hard, work hard and respect your elders. He gave me a dollar and told me to go back to school, a lot of money back in those days. I never forgot that day or those words, it was a defining point in my life. Thank you and rest in peace.
May God rest your soul Champ & thank you so much for the memories.
Joe,
You are in a better place no my friend. I will never ever forget the times me you and Les had together, Priceless – and most of all the dig in the ribs you gave me !!!!! haha.
You are a legend Sir and a hero to all, rest in peace dear friend and don’t let the dogs out!
Jayce Lewis
One of my alltime heroes and the Fight of the Century one of the highlights of my youth. I still have the ticket stub for the closed circuit broadcast– ticket # 0001 in Providence. Joe was one of the all time great champions and a person with great values. Not to mention the best left hook ever. Thoughts and prayers to his family.

Rest In Peace , Prayers to your family, and friends…….
I met Joe in the small town of Anna. He was there for the grand opening of a furniture store. He was very gracious. I even invited him to attend my church and he said he would have but he was leaving town that evening. He had huge hands and seemed to have a huge heart as well. God rest his soul.
That town is Anna, IL.
One of the best boxers i´d ever saw. Box Fans from all over the world will be missing you. R.I.P Smoking Joe
My heart is full of emotions as we say good-bye to a not only a great champion, but a great human being, Joe Frazier. Even though i was, and am, a huge Muhammad Ali fan, i always feared and respected the true “Rocky” and i hope he is given the love and respect that i believe he deserves! My heart goes out to his family and i know heaven is a better place with “Smokin” Joe. May God bless and keep you…we LOVE you CHAMP!!!!!!
Marvin O. McClarty, Jr.
I send my deepest condolences he was a great man
Boxing has never been the same since the time Joe and Ali fought. I guess it’s like losing someone you have known like a family member. Joe, the boxers of today do the best they can but one thing is for sure and that’s, ” they may take your space but they will never take your place”. May you rest in peace Joe Fraser and may God Bless You and you family.
Smokin Joe
Dancin, cut, gashed and grazed
always gave a show.
The one, that man
They called Smokin Joe
Muhammad Ali
was his greatest foe.
The one, that man
They called Smokin Joe
Called him ugly, what they know
The one, that man
They called Smokin Joe
Though,
Nuthin prettier than that
Left Hook he throw.
Bobbin and weavin, that shoulder roll,
Fight go on, his heart would grow.
The one, that man
They called Smokin Joe
He closed out his locker, paid the toll.
Gon miss the one, the man,
known as Smoking Joe

RIP Smoking Joe. The world has lost 1 of our greatest icons in sports history. You’ll never be forgotten.
I was in shock to hear the news of Mr. Frazier’s passing. I literally just watched a documentary yesterday afternoon on him and his epic battles with Ali. I thought to myself, next time I am passing through Philly I will have to find his gym and meet the man. One of the fondest memories from my childhood was my Dad, letting me watch the Frazier / Ali fights with him…
I would have liked to see Ali truly apologize face to face to Joe. Like my dream of meeting him, this too can never happen now!
To one of the Greatest fighters of ALL time. Always my favorite and the one I cheered for in any fight he had! For his warm and loving family ,he left a legacy as a fighter and a gentle and caring human being that your they can carry on with pride and dignity. Today is truely a sad day , and I know all the GREATS up in Heaven have a seat ringside waiting for you! —
Thank you Joe for leaving such a positive impact on many young lives and for using your given talent to become a legend. Your time in the ring was the time of true champions. You will be missed here but welcome home!!
Joe Frazier goes straight to Heaven. I grew up watching him and I always thought of him as a champion boxer and a champion PERSON. God bless his family. He leaves a strong legacy to youth all over, to live by good principles, work hard, and keep your eye on your goal.
To The Family of Joe Frazier (Smokin Joe)
Both of us are sadden that one of our “great” boxers, family man, mentor and friend has gone on to be in a better place. Joe brought excitement to boxing to all of our lives, he will be greatly missed. Long live one of our boxing KINGS in our hearts and minds.
Anthony and Lisa Williams
R.I.P Smoking Joe, Your Gone but will NEVER be forgotten!! My Favorite quote of yours is “‘I like to hit guys and See their knees tremble”.
REP QUOTE AND VIDEO: “Joe Frazier was a client and friend of mine. He was not only a great champion, but also a great man of God. He said his greatest gift was his faith in Christ. I saw evidence of that often, especially as he helped so many other people, especially kids, before he helped himself. RIP Joe. You will be missed. Marvis, I love you man. You and your family are in our prayers.” Mike Paul, the Reputation Doctor
Thank you for all you have given us. You were one of my hero’s and now you’re one of God’s heros.
RIP Champ!!
I am very sad this morning to hear of the passing of Mr. Frazier. My heart felt sympathy goes out to the entire Frazier family. May God comfort you as only he can during this most difficult time. The world has lost one of the greatest champions who ever lived. My brother and I grew up watching the Frazier/Ali trilogy, the greatest rivalry in all of sport. Mr. Frazier had more heart than any athlete I have ever seen. He will be greatly missed. I find myself mourning a gentleman who I never had the privilege to meet. You may be gone, Smokin’ Joe, but you will never be forgotten. May God rest your soul.
I don’t even watch boxing but I sure knew who Joe Frazier was. How could you not? He was a legend. I am so sorry for his family, friends, loved ones, fans and others who will miss him terribly.
May he rest in peace and enjoy his time in Heaven!
I recall one of my childhood memories of a toy Mohammed ali and joe frasier that came with a ring and handles that were like a trigger and the figures would punch one another it was one of the greatest toys to me, of course i was ali and my dad was smokin joe and like history repeats itself my dad (smokin joe) knocked out my Mohammed ali figure.
The whole bonding thing at that age with my dad and watching ali/frasier fued has always been with me and forever will
Rest in Peace Smokin joe!
Kieran
RIP JOE FRAZIER………
I remember when I was a kid and my dad would visit my school, all the kids use to think he was Joe Fraizer because the similiar resemblance he had of Mr. Fraizer! I also remember the first fight with Ali when Joe Fraizer knocked Ali out with a left hook, we were all cheering for Joe! But I would like to say we lost one of the world’s greatest fighter ever, RIP Joe Fraizer gone but never forgotten…..
Mr. Frazier:
Few weeks ago I saw on History Channel a documentary about your fight with Ali on Manila and I think that only a true men and a true Champ behave like you did despite Ali’s shameful comments and actions towards you.
God bless you Mr. Frazier, I will always remember you.
rest in peace, champ!
RIP Champ. My hero. Fuck Ali. You were the finest Philadelphia athlete who ever lived. Fuck Sly Stallone.
Dave F.
RIP
Discovered your talent & legacy quite suddenly (wasn’t so much interested in boxing as a sport) – but your contribution is and will be huge , so there you have it – my deepest respect for everything you’ve accomplished as a fighter , parent , husband !
RIP Joe Frazier !
Simply the best. You encouraged me to the boxing…you inspired me to work harder and better everyday, and to be a better person. Thanks. Descansa En Paz
Joe Frazier was the Warrior King… the bobbing and weaving and hooking epitome of what makes champions.
When you were in the game, it was the real deal. Some of the best fighters, and fights that I have ever had the pleasure of seeing.
Thanks for the memories Joe!!

As a Philadelphia native who grew up in the Ali-Frazier era of boxing-Thank you Smokin’ Joe for all the excitement and great boxing. I encourage Philadelphia Mayor Nutter to commission a statue of you throwing your classic left hook and to place it right next to the statue of Rocky on the Art Museum steps.
Rest in peace, champ.
Champion, ALWAYS. Gone but not forgotten.
Tell Eddie Futch hello from all us boxing fans when you get there.
One of those people that you’re glad they were in a spotlight because they’re genuine inspiration unlike so many starlets today.
Thank you, Joe. I didn’t know you personally but I kind of feel like I did.
The Loss Of A Family Member
Ti’s not my heart that pounds
Nor the puddle that weeps at my feet
Ti’s not the air that’s sucked from my breath
Nor the blocked vision that clouds my mind
Ti’s not the tightness that compress my chest
Nor the unwillingness to rise from my bed
Ti’s not the sickness from within my stomach
Nor the anger that clouds my judgment
Ti’s not the depression that surrounds me
Nor the struggle to hold on
It’s the part of a birth that was shared with me
It’s the stories that was shared within our family
It’s the days of remembering each others birth
It’s when you can recall the past of your life
(The loss of a family member is a seed from your tree
Drawn back unto the earth to regenerate into another world
To rise above a loss but to enter into a kingdom
And the only loss is waiting for their family to join them
When its their time to enter into Holy Land
America has truly lost a hero! My heartfelt sadness is with the family.
Goodbye, Joe Frazier. You helped make our times.

RIP Joe! Thank you for the great entertainment! And for always being a gentleman. God Bless You & Your Family.
My Dad loved and followed your success from Italy, he loved how you beat Ali but he mostly loved the greatness of a man you were. Please say to my Dad for me.
God Bless You and rest in peace, Joe.

I was a classmate to Jacqui and Marvis and had the priviledge of meeting Joe several times. He was bigger than life and had such a positive attitude that it influenced everyone he met. I’ll always remember that big smile, a genuine handshake and bit of humor evertime we spoke. What he did in the ring and in the eyes of the sporting world was only the “outside” of Joe Frazier. The way he touched people with what was “inside” Joe Frazier was a much larger accomplishment.
Joe Frazier was one of the greats of all time in boxing, but he was more than that….Joe Frazier was a good and decent human being…a generous, thoughtful man whose kindess and his concern for others touched and inspired so many…class and character
may not be mentioned in the record books, but they are the true measure of a champion.
rip joe. thanks for never taking a step back.
From Holland, the dutch we thank Joe Frazier. I can tell you that Joe was honored on national television.
Peace. Love & Respect
I live in a small community, about 30 miles west of Beaufort, SC. I remember going to grammar school in the small town of Yemassee, SC, during the 1960s. I remember people talking about Joe Frazier, and how proud they were of all he had accomplished. He bought a plantation, Brewton Plantation as it is known now, but folks back then called it Joe Frazier Plantation. Actually, most of us still refer to it as that. It is just a few miles out of Yemassee on Old Sheldon Church Road, which back then was the favored route to travel to Beaufort. As a child listening to all the talk of Joe Frazier, I always wanted to see him. I mean, afterall, he lived right here among us. I remember when we came to town that I would look around hoping to see him. And when we traveled to Beaufort, asking my mom if we could turn down his driveway. Of course, we never did. I remember being in awe, looking down that long driveway and thinking, “Wow, Joe Frazier is just down that road.” And to be truthful, I still look down that driveway today with fond memories as I drive by. Not too long ago, I was going thru some belongings of my moms, who passed away a few years ago. I found a booklet on Joe Frazier, titled Joe Frazier and his “knockouts.” I couldn’t help but pull it out today, and fondly remember Joe Frazier whom I never got the chance to meet, but still has a special place in my heart. My mom did get to see him one day. He came in the small bank she worked in in Yemassee. She was excited, not only to meet him, but to get his autograph. I’m not sure that this booklet, with his signature on the back, is what he autographed for her, but she kept it all these years, and it must have meant something to her, and now it does to me. Especially now. I remember her telling me how powerful his presence was, but above all how much of a gentleman he was. Mr. Frazier, I didn’t get to meet you in this lifetime, but when we all go home I plan on coming down your driveway, just to say hi.
I was just 11 when I bet the school bully $5 you would beat Ali.
I sure held me head up high the next day when I collected my money.
Thanks Smokin Joe, one of my favorites, for everything.
Joe, Boston
May God be with the family at this time. He was truly one of the great ones. God just took another angel. He has work to do now. He is in a better place.
Rest In Peace Champ! Thank you for everything
Rest in Peace Joe…we all loved you, and will miss you.
Joe, you were always my hero; always.
Rest in peace. You will always be remembered.
Joe was not only a great boxer, he was a good man. Back in 1972-3 he paid all of the medical expenses for his friend, Bobby Kearse. I never forgot that, I was Bobby Kearse’s dialysis nurse. Bobby lived longer because of Joe’s generous heart. I hope they are together now.
Hey Joe!…
I cried today for the first time in 30yrs …
My dad boxed for the Royal Navy in the late 60′s as a heavy weight when i was a boy.. YOU WERE THE GREATEST according to him.. he met you and always told me.. lol!!
I left home when i was 17 (46 now) and whenever you, Cassius or George showed up in the news i am reminded of the time spent with my big ol dad (the bear) watching the big fights as a very small boy with his hero…my dad!

Your soul will lead those in the heavens, just as you did on Earth. Thank you for all the wonderful memories and good deeds, Joe Frazier. I admired your warrior spirit greatly.
